Greetings all who wrestle for the Kingdom,
Time for a change.
A new year that is. Welcome to 2007. We have seen some amazing things in the year 2006 but I believe we have just begun to observe the smallest portion of what God is going to do with hearts that are totally surrendered to Him. Stay focused and alert. Keep pushing in. Watch and see what the Lord is going to do.
Sometimes it is the continual pushing in that gets us to the destination. Unfortunately, we humans identify the destination as resolution of the immediate need. For example, "if only I was healed then I could serve God". Or, "if only this person would treat me better then I would be at peace", etc. The destination is God's presence and everything else reconciles itself to Him while we are in Him. Our circumstances make us stop and reflect and sometimes pursue resolution in Christ but more often than not we are simply looking for relief and calling it spiritual pursuit. God, make our hearts clean and our pursuit pure, show us your ways.
I was reading through some of the loose papers in my journal and read a note from a young lady that I received two years ago. Here are some excerpts; "... I am standing here facing myself, I still face self-hatred so I don't like facing myself at all. I wrote (about) it last Saturday. Every time I say anything about feeling unlovable I hear indignant speeches about how great I am, and how so many people love me, etc., etc. ... how am I supposed to accept love when I find myself so revolting? I so desperately want to break free from this, but for all my efforts and all my prayers I look inside to hear the same dreadful accusations, and often some new ones into the batch. I keep giving it up to Christ and waking up in misery, looking in the mirror and cringing. I know this is wrong. I know God didn't mean for me to live like this, I know Satan is pulling out all stops to keep me down ... I'm so lonely, and no amount of people or confiding will change that. The rift is within myself." I just heard back from her this week and God did a deep healing in her over the past few months and she is now seeing the lies and walking in freedom. Why did it take years? I do not know but what I do know is that God's truth and God's presence brings healing and peace and restoration of our souls. Keep pushing in. Do you need something from God? Keep pushing in. Are you praying for someone or something that has not been realized yet? Keep pushing in.
Keep pushing in.
A number of people have asked about the Vigilantes and the saga of the van. Well, after the wonderful divine appointment in New Jersey where they stayed with a Reformed Pastor and his family and Isaiah led worship for a prayer session that meets once a month in NJ they got home and were heading back out to do a show in Minneapolis, MN. This time the engine blew completely in Michigan City, IN. Everyone is safe and they got home with help from Luke's dad and a car dolly but they had to cancel the Jan. West Coast tour since they now have no wheels. They are working, waiting and praying for a vehicle so prayers would be appreciated. They will be playing at the Pastor's Conf. At Mars Hill Jan 22nd, which by the way if you are in ministry and would like to get some info on this conference you can go to www.isntshebeautiful.com and check it out.
A few more examples of our God at work .......
REPORTS: * A woman came to the "W" a few months ago to have us pray for her father who is suffering with Alzheimer's. She reported last week that he was recently tested and has improved back to 2000 levels of cognitive ability and recognition, etc. Bless God for improvement. Father, complete the restoration we pray. * A woman came for prayer regarding back pain. The back pain has not improved yet but she reports that "I feel so much better inside, I now have the strength to go forward". Thank you Father for the healing in her heart. Manifest that same truth in her body now we pray. * We heard from the young lady who was in a head on collision last August that the shooting nerve pains in her neck have stopped but more importantly, she began the reconciliation process with her Dad as a result of what God is doing in her heart as she walks through the healing process. Praise God. * We prayed for a young girl who was kicked out of her home last year due to strife and substance abuse issues. She told us recently that what was prayed was exactly what was needed and she is now back home and reconciled with her family. God, we thank you that physical and emotional yokes are broken in the name of Jesus. * A baby was at risk of being born premature with possible life threatening issues. It was born a week after the due date in perfect health. Yes! * A woman came to the "W" with Fibromyalgia and reported last Wed. night that her doctor has reduced her med's and she is feeling a ton better. Father, complete now you're Word in her. * A 93 year-old man was without power in Seattle during the outage and called one of our intercessors for prayer since his oxygen pump was not working and he was not getting enough air to breathe. He got to a desperate point and was prompted to pray, "God, please turn my power back on in the next hour." One half hour later the power came on but only in his neighborhood. He attributes that to prayer and thanked us for praying with him. * A former Muslim came back to the "W" last week to thank God for answered prayer. He was in need of a job and came for prayer. Within two weeks he was working and he wanted to thank God publicly for providing. Father, remind us all to give you thanks for your ongoing and faithful provision. * We got this in an email from a leader in a CRC church East of GR; " ... healing prayer is working in (our church)! I just got back from rehearsal of the worship team. One of our members' sister has some real tough medical problems. A few weeks back we asked the Father to reach in to her body and heal a developing intestinal break. Her prognosis was very grim. Her medical team expected her to be in the hospital for two weeks and then in a care facility for a time after that. Without going into detail here, she went home after only a few days! The doc's shaking his head! Awesome!" * We had a similar report from a person at the "W" whose sister was in a nursing home with bedsores and not doing well. The doctors felt that she would never leave the home. We prayed for her and within a week she had gained weight (she was at 78lbs) and the sores were healed and she was doing so well they sent her home. God we rejoice in your loving care for your children.
Bob Sorge in his book Unrelenting Prayer states; "Rees Howells had an expression, 'the meaning of prayer is answer.' He held the conviction that prayer that did not procure its answer was meaningless." This was quoted from the book Intercessor that was a biography of Rees Howells life during the Welsh revival in the late 1800's. He prayed until the result came with confidence in God that the Word would do its work and we had to trust and keep praying. Thank you Father for results and meaningful prayer effort. Help us to trust you for the result and to remain faithful in pushing in.
Keep pushing in. Here are some additional things to be aware of as WT members; OPPORTUNITIES: · Pray for more people to join the Wrestling Team. With people moving and other transition issues our numbers have dropped in the past few months. There are some services where we only have two or three people scheduled. Please lift this up and think of people who might be interested in this effort. · Praise God for His faithfulness in answering so many of our prayers. · Please pray for the staff and volunteers ministering at Mars Hill and around the world. · Pray for Ted and the Old Man Worship Band as they continue to lead worship in various places. They will be at the "W" again on Jan 24th and in the morning services at Harvest CRC in Lake Odessa, MI on Jan 27th. · We still need another person to join the worship rotation at the "W". Isaiah will be touring with Vigilantes more and more (once the new van shows up <grin>) and thus unable to lead us in worship as often on Wed. nights. If you know someone able and willing please have him or her contact us. · We will be having a "Team Meeting" at some point in February now. Please be praying for an effective gathering.
You are appreciated and prayed for often.

"May you now, by the power of the Holy Spirit, receive the spirit of prayer. May it become, in the name of Jesus Christ, the most precious occupation of your life. And may the God of all peace strengthen you, bless you, and give you joy. Amen." Richard Foster's benediction to his book Prayer: Finding the Hearts True Home. |
