Same facts  …  Different result

Claudia has been involved with a Torah Study Group at Mars for the past five years.  This year I have been tracking with the study as well.  Every week we read the same Portion of the first five books of the Bible as millions of practicing Jews and many Messianic believers.  The Messianic study that we follow has ancillary readings in the New Testament that correspond to the Torah Portion for the week.  One of those readings this week was Acts 9:1-30.  As I was reading this I was struck with an understanding that I have never seen before in verse 8.  Here is the verse;

Saul got up from the ground, and though his eyes were open, he could see nothing; and leading him by the hand, they brought him into Damascus.

I had always been told and have always thought that the blindness that Saul/Paul suffered was as a result of the great light.  If that is true then how could the other men who were with him still see?  They were in the same physical circumstance, saw the same light, heard the same voice and yet they were able to lead him into Damascus. 

They were not affected. 

We are also never informed as to how these other people reacted.  Did they convert?  Did they leave and go back to Jerusalem wondering how this zealot could change so quickly and completely?  We are never told.

They all experienced the same facts but there was a different result.

It struck me how many times people are in a physical surrounding or situation where one person is dramatically affected and the person sitting right next to them does not experience a thing.  We saw it last Sunday where one person came up after the service with tears expressing how they were blessed by the worship with the OMWB.  I know other people who thought it was “nice” but were not deeply moved. 

They all experienced the same facts but there was a different result.

We see it in healing ministry as well where one person who is prayed for is healed instantly but another sees no change.  Or, one person is healed over time where another person inexplicably passes away.

Once again God showed me that I am the servant and not the source of the results.  My job is not to deliver the result or to fret about it.  My job is to believe in Him with my whole heart and without reservation trust Him and His word.  I need to be the one listening and then acting in obedience when I understand His direction.  He is the one who brings the result.  I need to be the one who responds right now when His light shows up. 

God’s love and passion is for the wholeness and health of our hearts. He knows the point to begin and to perfect His restoration.  God brings His complete results.

Father, help me to be in that place to hear You clearly and mold my heart to be quickly obedient.

Here are some of His results over the past month  …

REPORTS:

• A woman who was in pain with Fibromyalgia and losing her hair was prayed for at the “W” via “the box” and reported back two weeks ago that the pain is now gone and we could all see that her hair is thick and beautiful.  Thank You Lord for healing her heart of fear and anger and healing her body as well.

• An update on Mike Messinger who was prayed for four years ago with brain cancer and has been cancer free for over three years: Last Friday, he underwent another MRI for spots on his brain that they have been watching closely. The MRI test results came back this week, and the doctor reported... "I can't explain it, but those spots I was concerned about are all gone."  Mike will have his next routine MRI in about 3 months.   God, You continue to bless and we thank You.

• A man was prayed for in proxy by a co-worker. The man being prayed for actually refused to accept prayer in person.  We prayed and over the course of a few weeks his bulging disks, scheduled for an operation, went back to normal and the pain left.  Father, let this healing be a door to glorify Your Son and bring this man to a relationship with you.

• A young man was back home to perform a number of concerts and God had given him enough money to fly home.  As he was praying he heard “Do not fly home.  Call Dave and offer to pay his gas round trip to drive you”.  Dave was called and he had just been thinking about how he wanted to go spend time in Nashville but could not afford the gas.  Father, You hear our call before we pray and You are in Adonai Jireh our provider.

• A woman who has had difficulty hearing God was praying about a situation and the thought came to her “Romans 12”.  She did not know why because it has not been a part of her spiritual flight path but she went and read Romans 12.  That chapter had the exact answer she had been praying for and confirmed that God actually does talk to her and wants to talk to her.  We Your sheep hear Your voice and You know us.  Thank You.

• A woman was having car trouble and a friend called a friend who just happened to know how to fix this model and was able to get the part for near nothing blessing this single mom with continued transportation.  We bless you Lord.

• A story came in.  Father, Your sheep hear Your voice and follow You still today.

• An intercessor who is a part of the W was praying for her daughter but had not told her about the prayers.  The daughter has suffered from severe loss of energy and fatigue needing naps every day and barely able to function.  They met last week and the daughter was full of energy and was taking care of her kids with no problems so the Mom asked ‘how are you doing’ and the daughter told her not only has her energy returned but she has not been afflicted with SAD this year and that has hit her every year for many years.  Yes Lord, the prayers of Your righteous people are effective and accomplish much.

• A young boy with RSV was agitated and worked up while his Grandmother was watching him.  She prayed for him and he relaxed.  He then had a peaceful night and did not cough once after the prayer.  Thank you Lord for caring for Your little ones and answering the prayers of Your people.

• A family was down to its last few dollars and was praying about where to go and what to do.  One of the people they were prompted to call as prayer support ended up hiring the husband for a month.  Father, You know who has need and who has supply and we know You take delight in moving through Your body to supply its needs.  Thank You.

• A woman who needed a $580.00 per day medical treatment and could not afford it.  She was prayed for at the “W” and through a series of ‘coincidences’ received it for free.  She was also able to see her son for a visit for the first time in a long time and was blessed to give the testimony.  Thank You faithful God.

• A woman was paid a large sum of money in January but felt she should not spend it.  There was a ‘check’ in her spirit so she let it sit.  At the end of the month she received an unexpected tax bill and was able to pay it in full due to the money she was holding.  We thank You Father for giving us direction and protecting us when we listen to You.

• A daughter who left home to live of her own has seen God move every day with provisions right down to giving her candles for free to burn at her new place.  What a God we serve.

• A man who came two months ago to be prayed for with Cancer in its last stages came back to report he is feeling great and trusting God that the Cancer is gone and will not return.  We agree.

• A man who visited one time last year from New Hampshire had asked for prayer regarding a potential divorce situation.  He was so blessed by the experience that he came back last week.  His wife is moving forward with the divorce but he was again blessed by the prayers of people who believe.  Father, breathe shalom into that home we pray in the name of Jesus.

• An older gentleman who comes to the “W” often had a stent put into his heart and came to the “W” to report he is feeling well and that the prayers were not only sensed but appreciated.

Here are some additional things to be aware of as WT members;

OPPORTUNITIES:

·         Please pray for Ted and Claudia regarding a consulting contract in Dallas that might grow into a more substantial relationship.

·         Along that path Jeff Roley will be leading the “W” this coming week so pray for him if you would.

·         Please continue to pray for the staff and workers at Mars Hill.

·         Please pray for the team that is in the process of identifying and bringing in a new Teaching Pastor/Shepherd to work alongside Rob.  They need wisdom and the mind of Christ to see with spiritual eyes the person who is needed.

·         Please continue to pray for Ted and Claudia and the OMWB as they speak and minister;

o   Feb. 17^th Ted and Claudia teaching a class at Western Theological Seminary”Demonstrations of God's Power”.  We will be sharing some of our experiences in prayer and answering questions as well.

o   July 26^th the OMWB will be leading worship at the Gun Lake Chapel south of Grand Rapids.

o   We are in discussions to have a regional Church Prayer Leaders Network conference in Grand Rapids in August with Ted as a Keynote speaker.

o   Ted will be a Keynote speaker at a regional Church Prayer Leaders Network conference on November 6-7 in Lititz, PA (near Hershey and Lancaster).

·         For Feb. the team leaders for the Wrestling Team will be Steve and Ruth Zwierzinski and Joe Martino.  They will be “on the ground” before and during the services to assist with any questions or prayer needs that might come up while we are out of town.
